This stunning gown is from the 1930’s..
I knew the second my hands touched it that it was special..
That it had come from a different era..
The tulle mesh is what gave it away..so soft..
Not in the least but stiff or crunchy..
The way the jacquard bodice is tailored was my next clue..
With that slightly dropped waist and pointed detail..
The jacquard has a magical floral motif woven in, almost like little branches of magnolia heavy with giant full blooms…silver threads of dew only barely showing in the light..
The way the bust seems almost drawn up into the bows..like birds on Cinderellas shoulder..
The sleeves..off the shoulder with a full sweep of delicate mesh ruffles and thin shoulder strap..
The underskirt is an acetate satin with the most beautiful sweep to it with bias inserts..
The dress has hook and eyes up the side and no lining..
I love seeing all the stitches and snipped and pinked edges..more clues..
The color is what stole my heart the most..
Those soft birds egg blues..
An absolute treasure!
Instantly in love with this one!
Displayed with a small bridal hoop to show the skirt fullness and not included with the dress
Excellent condition..there’s a few single breaks in the mesh..the bottom hem shows a few very small tears that could be mended or even trimmed a bit..there’s a couple imperfections in the weave of the fabrics..I see a fiber inclusion in the satin..all very very minor..this dress is in amazing condition for its age!
